I know you might have seen these images before, but I just had to post them and make sure the whole world see them. Im a very big fan of the girls from Glee!

Ninja and Yo-Landi of Die Antwoord share theie feelings to their friend Leon Botha, who died Sunday at age 26 of complications from progeria.

In 2008, before DIE ANTWOORD was known outside of Cape Town, we threw our 1st ZEF RAP-RAVE JOLS at a dodgy little club called the Purple Turtle in Long Street (CT). The line up was our chommie, DJ SOLARIZE (Leon Botha), our chommie JACK PAROW, DIE ANTWOORD and our other chommies, THE WEDDING DJ’S.

Only about 150 to 200 people pulled in to these fun little psycho jols, but everyone who came to each jol said afterwards this ZEF RAP-RAVE JOL was the ‘the best night of their lives’.

This was Leon’s 1st time ever to DJ in front of people.

Leon had the biggest collection of actual rap CD’s Ninja and Yo-landi had ever seen in their lives.

They were all kept in original mint condition on giant CD racks that wrapped round his whole room!

His bedroom looked like a mixture between a hip-hop CD shop / dj studio and a Shoalin Monk art gallery, Leon had a deep love for creating his beautifully dark and mysterious paintings, and also a deep love for hip-hop DJ scratch-mixing.

When we asked Leon to drop a DJ set before DIE ANTWOORD’S 1st show he was crazy into it, and put a real slamming hard-core rap set together that got our 1st little Zuid Afrikaanse zeflings banging their brains out!

Which is okay, in fact, it’s desirable. Because a good pop culture t-shirt is less about creating a sense of collective appreciation towards a timeless figure like a cereal mascot and more about stamping yourself for a day as a devoted fan of something obscure, and waiting, sometimes hoping, for ardent fellow fans to reveal themselves to you. It isn’t much fun if everybody that walks by you points and laughs at the irony of Mr. Rogers’s face on a grown-ups shirt. But walking amongst the mob clad in a shirt that projects an obscure reference is exciting. The difference is much like the difference between shooting fish in a barrel and fishing; if you have to wait three hours before you hear someone shout “Kuato Lives!” instead of being bombarded with eyeballs and comments constantly, it feels a lot like the triumph of a good catch over easy pickings.

The art is as much on the part of the buyer as it is on the part of the seller/designer. Funny and pop culture-themed t-shirt makers make their bread and butter on the clever ways they can tie a mainstream icon or beloved character into a fun and exciting shirt design, and being able to discern what is befitting of a Father’s Day gift and what would make a great shirt for you to wear takes some skill. Consider a subject as universal and universally well known as the Star Wars films. A shirt with a picture of a pig wearing Corellian blood stripe pants and a vest with the words “Ham Solo” above him is admittedly funny (does such a shirt exist?) but that’s not the subtle reference that makes a great pop culture shirt for someone wanting a challenge in the rise they get out of those around them. As far as Star Wars goes, something along the lines of “A Wampa Ate My Baby” might suffice.

Since most funny t –shirt websites price their shirts between 13 to 20 dollars, it’s wise to consider whether or not you’ll like the attention you’re going to get with that particular shirt. If you’re like me, you prefer only the occasional attention paid, and want to proudly display your pop culture reference, if only so that 99% of people don’t even get it.

The smoking bans in New York was a part of a plan by Mayor Michael Bloomberg to eliminate smoking in the city, due to affect on personal health, environment, and the surrounding population. Health Commissioner Thomas A. Farley, for the city of New York, said the ban will protect the vulnerable, such as asthma sufferers and children. The elected officials also hope the ban will cut the amount of litter in the city. The first ban removed smoking of cigarettes and cigars from bars an restaurants, and the next ban was for outdoor public spaces, including parks, boardwalks, beaches, and the pedestrian hangout in Times Square. A bill to create separate smoking areas in the park did not pass, but the laws will not affect public sidewalks, at this time.

Massive campaign plans by anti-smoking organizations has led to 21 states with outdoor smoking legislation in limbo, although some doctors have pointed out there is no scientific research that links outdoor smoking to the harmful effects of indoor smoking for the environment or secondhand exposure.

Some smokers have found other ways to continue the habits through the smoking bans by using electronic cigarettes. Some cities are debating the ban of these products as well, even though they don’t emit smoke like a regular cigarette. Argentina has already banned the use, import, and advertisement for the product by citing the lack of proof that e-cigarettes help smokers quit. However, e-cigarettes are still popular in the UE and the US, and are the only exception to the smoking ban.

As smoking bans gain momentum in the US and the research on the effects of cigarettes and alternative products expands, there will be either an increase in laws or a backlash against the legislation.

Supposed Mass Effect 3 artwork has appeared online

Putting on our rumour-busting top hats for a second, it’s not clear whether the art here has been supplied for the game or if its an artists’ own fan work, but it certainly looks quality enough to be legitimate. After no even too much closer inspection, with something of a cell shaded look to them, they’re clearly the fan art of a one Robert Simons.

Mass Effect 3 is well overdue a reveal, so it’s not entirely out of the question that these images are planned for an upcoming magazine feature, ala the leaked Resistance images.

Now the microblogging site has become the setting for a battle of wits between police and residents of Rio de Janeiro over a drink-driving campaign known as Operation Lei Seca, or “dry law”.

Anyone who has had too many beers but wants to drive home can turn to a page on Twitter, where those who have seen the distinctive branded police vans warn others which routes to avoid. In turn, the traffic police are logging on to foil the efforts of the techno-literate, often setting up in unexpected locations elsewhere. Penalties include having your licence suspended, being fined and having your car towed away. There has also been an advertising campaign to raise awareness.

Now, i’m not a fan of drinking and driving, and i’m not really a fan of Twitter either. I used Facebook for a bit but got bored, but I do find a sort of Unnecessary genius in their plan. Maybe Apple should get on the case. If your on your way home, your driving, your drunk and need to avoid the police. There’s an app. for that.

Stop motion videos are always fun, the last time we enjoyed one we saw  playmobile Joy Division on a sort of Old Grey Whislte Test.

The latest one is a bit more manly. To be honsest, my money would usually be on Star Scream. This is a nice fun video with some good imagination, check out his Matrix/Limbo dancing around 0.45-ish

Yesterday Sony unveiled Move.Me, a software application that allows hobbyists and academics access to the Move controller to do things like operating robots remotely. Today, we see the Move operating a robot remotely. And dare I say it, it looks like it might be good. Just as I start to decide that Sony never come out with anything original and are completely guilty of copying Nintendo all day long, they’ve done something first for once.

While not quite as impressive as some of the things we’ve seen hobbyists do with Microsoft’s Kinect, moving a robot around remotely using motion control is certainly a thing. Until now we’ve had to rely on keyboards and mice to move our robots around remotely over the internet. Surely this ushers in a new age of not being tethered to the computer to get mechanical beings to do our bidding.

And before you start winging, no, wireless mouse/keyboard doesn’t count.

Know Sony though, they’ll end up creating this robot controller and kicking off SkyNet by accident and dooming us all!

Panama defender Luis Moreno is facing sanctions after he kicked an injured owl that had landed on the field during a match for his Colombian club Deportivo Pereira against Atletico Junior.

The owl, which serves as a mascot for the Atletico Junior team and lives in the stadium, was being treated Monday at a local veterinary clinic in Barranquilla.

The bird had been expected to recover from a minor fracture to its right leg, but Radio Santa Fe reports that the owl has now died.

Pereira club president Francisco Javier Lopez said the player would be punished and he could also face sanctions from Colombian football’s governing body. Not too mention the RSPCA, and PETA no doubt, who actually have something genuine to whine about now.
