10 Best Drinking Gadgets for St. Patrick’s Day
Happy St. Patrick’s Day — a holiday where it’s often considered bad form if you don’t get yourself falling-down drunk. Still, it can get monotonous to simply guzzle pint after pint of your favorite brew. Surely there’s some way technology can make drinking not just more efficient, but more fun as well?
Turns out there are at least 10. In fact, there’s no shortage of drinking accessories out there, and we’ve gathered the best of them in one place. Shout along with us, Erin go brough! (Ireland forever), and belly up to the DVICE bar as we unleash enough St. Patrick’s Day gadgets to chase all the snakes out of Ireland, and then some. Hit Continue and you’ll find yourself waist-deep in the luck of the Irish.
10. Self-Stirring Mug ($30)This self-stirring mug is great for Irish coffee, keeping the booze mixed in and saving you from that skull-popping alcohol kick at the bottom of the barrel.
9. Russian Roulette Beer Bong (no pricing yet)Here’s the beer bong taken to the extreme — remove one of the mini plastic beer bottles, and if you’re in possession of the luck o’ the Irish, you’ll get to chug half a gallon of the green brewski.
8. Irish, the St. Patrick’s Day iPhone App (99 cents)Here’s about the only way we can think of to get a bonnie lass to kiss the old iPhone, and it’ll flatter her by making up something about how it senses she’s Irish, giving her all the luck in the world. Well, she met you, didn’t she? Perhaps that’s no proof.
7. Cooper Cooler Chiller ($64) If you can’t drink your beer unless it’s cold, you must not be Irish, but no matter — this Cooper Chiller can turn a perfectly good can of Irish stout into ice-cold American-style piss in 60 seconds flat.
6. Alcohol Shot Gun (no pricing yet)Don’t get into a nasty Irish bar fight — just shoot it out with this ersatz-violent weapon, where the loser wins yet another shot o’ the grog.
5. Beertender Home Keg ($220)This new T-Fal version of the Beertender is even more streamlined, serving up ice-cold Heineken draft just like the real bartenders do. And you can dye your beer green, too!
4. Cellphone Flask ($25)Somebody’s got to be well-plastered to think this flask is a cellphone, but those goons at the office will never know — it looks like an ample vessel for enough Irish whiskey to get you through another day in cubicle land until it’s finally quitting time.
3. Self-Cooling Beer Can (no pricing yet)We’re still waiting for this incredible tech to finally become reality (they were saying this would be ready two years ago), but until then we’ll just dream about the self-chilling can as we quaff some stout that won’t need any such refrigeration, even 100 years from now.
2. Octane 120 Beer Arcade ($6,995)Mount up on this monster and play a dozen driving games with your choice of a built-in gaming PC, Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3, displayed on a built-in projector. And yeah, there’s also a keg built in, with two taps — one right next to the steering wheel — so the more you quaff, the more obvious it gets how stupid it is to drink and drive.
1. Guinness Surger (about $25 on eBay)Put a glass of special Guinness Surger stout on this miracle mechanism, and its ultrasonic waves kick up just the right foamy head on top. Sadly, the innovative foam-maker, and the special Guinness Surger stout that makes it work (regular Guinness foams up way too much), have both met their untimely demise, according to a Guinness rep we contacted:
“Over the past two and a half years we have been spreading the word in the hope that we could get more people like you to enjoy the magic of GUINNESS Surger. Like you we are very disappointed that others have not shared our passion for the Surger, and so regrettably we have stopped producing this product since March.”
